September brings with it a great sense of starting over…a “this is how I mean to go on” energy. To this end I have launched into this mellowest of months with a determination to quicken my pace, to stay focused and to get stuff done. I’m a terrible wanderer downer of side roads and cul de sacs – which is all very well – and often much inspiration is garnered there. But with all that meandering comes a lingering sense of unfinished jobs piling up – and oh the stress that accompanies all of that! An old boss once said to me – Doreen the best piece of advice I can give you is this – finish things! It had never occurred to me before and yet just as he spoke the words their meaning resonated immediately. A great embracer of new ideas, new things, fresh starts and all the excitement that goes with the initial stages of anything – I find the further into the detail I get – the more fidgety I get. The sheen wears off, the mundane practicalities, indeed the necessities, kick in – and oh the strain of staying focused. I get bored so damn easily. And yet – the reward I feel having stayed on track and completing a task – that is a buzz I have come to crave. And so maybe with my own mellowness of years – I’ve finally managed to rewire those wandering neural highways and byways of mine. Shit is getting done my friends! I’m just short of high fiving myself. Just short of it – mind you. There are depths below which even the most organised of us must not sink.
And so – without further rambling – here is one of my ticked off tasks on the “To Do” list. A blog post on an editorial piece for Image Interiors. Its all about my lovely friend Wendy’s house. You might remember the post I did of her little niece – the small girl in a foxy jumper. Love this girl. Love this house. Love this first picture!
